Honda planning CR-Z Type-R

Honda enthusiasts, rejoice! The anemic CR-Z is getting a breath of fresh turbocharged air. The CR-Z Type-R will get a displacement bump to 1.6 liters from the current 1.5 in the base CR-Z as well as a turbocharger. Output is expected to be around 200hp, with the new engine set to replace the current Civic Si's 2.0 liter inline-4. A detuned version putting out 160hp will also be available. Neither of these engines is expected to be paired with a hybrid powertrain.

The weight savings due to removing hybrid components as well as the horsepower bump should see the CR-Z becoming a serious performance contender in its class.
